Lead Facilitator:
Mark Campano (Delaware Deaf-blind Project)

Mark’s presentation will explore How We All Learn (the psychology of learning). Julie’s presentation will explore Literacy for All Learners. Both of these expert facilitators will share how these topics apply to learning for individuals with moderate/significant cognitive impairments and dual sensory impairments (vision and hearing).

Communication is the basis of all interactions, especially those focusing on learning. The 2016 Summer Institute will give participants an opportunity to look at the reality of how we all learn, and the importance of understanding this process in order to appropriately use “best practices” and provide access to the curriculum.

Through lecture, simulation, hands-on activities, case study, discussion, and other learning methods, this year’s Institute teaches participants how to use the valuable information being provided to bridge successfully to the Common Core, and to an emergent literacy foundation for each complex learner!

This is a must see, and must learn opportunity.
Come and join us!

NOTE about the FRIDAY ONLY OPTION:

“Building Literacy Foundations for
Students with Multiple Disabilities”

Julie Durando (Virginia DB Project)

This session is being offered as a new opportunity to those who are unable to attend all five days of the 2016 CBSS Summer Institute.

This session will focus on providing meaningful literacy instruction to students at the earliest stages of communication and concept development. Specific attention will be given to students with sensory loss combined with physical challenges and cognitive delays.  Based on the philosophy that all children are on the continuum of literacy, this session will introduce a free, informal checklist instructors may use identify the literacy skills most relevant for a student with dual sensory loss and additional disabilities in the earliest stages of development (all ages).

There are no CPD units attached to this one day event.
To receive the full 2 CPD units you MUST attend the FULL FIVE DAYS of summer institute. Please see the registration for full week presentation by Mark Campano (link is above).

You must register to attend this one day only event.
There is no registration charge to attend.
Parking is on your own.
Lunch is on your own.
Deadline to register is June 10.
Any questions? Confused?
